5 Scarily Good Halloween Date Ideas
By James Preece
Did you know that Halloween is actually a fantastic time for you to be dating? The emotion of being scared can also boost your chances of developing a relationship and have a much more successful date. That’s because your body releases the same chemicals when you are nervous – adrenalin and dopamine – as when it does when you are falling in love. So if you are getting close to someone at the same time they are naturally going to be drawn to you.
Here are some ideas to make sure your Halloween goes spookily well.
1. Scary Movies
You’ll find that the best horror films are released over the Halloween period. If you take someone along to the cinema try that and find one that has a 3D screening for maximum effect. You’ll be the one sitting next to them and hopefully holding their hand during the scary bits!
Or if you want to stay at home there are many movies on television to choose from. A little “Netflix and Chill" could be enough to raise your spirits.
2. Visit a Theme Park
There’s nothing quite like visiting a theme park to give you a real sense of childhood fun. That’s why places like Thorpe Park run special Fright Nights for you to take part in. For these, they open the park late at night so everything is dark. You can ride the rollercoasters for explore themed horror mazes together.
If that sounds too much remember that it’s only by doing things that are a little scary that help you get the most out of life!
3. Take Part on a Ghost Walk
If you’ve not yet experienced a ghost walk then you’ve been missing out. You’ll meet a guide who will show you the secret side of your favourite city and the supposedly haunted areas. If you are feeling especially bold, you could sign up to a full blown Ghost Hunt. Many haunted properties run special events throughout the year where you can investigate alongside professionals. Halloween is always the most popular with the biggest crowds and most exciting places to visit.
4. Create Your Own Laboratory of Fun
If your budget is low, staying at home could be your best option. Set the scene by decorating your room and cooking up something creepy but tasty. I’d recommend adding some red food colouring to your cocktails to give them a blood like look. Turn the lights down low and use some candles for maximum effect. They’ll be impressed that you’ve gone to such an effort!
5. Fancy Dress Parties
We all love dressing up as it gives us the chance to pretend to be someone else. So if you get the chance, do go to a Halloween party and find a great costume to wear. If you have a date already lined up, you could go as a matching couple. Vampires are always popular or go as Super Heroes if you prefer.
Don’t worry if you don’t have anyone though as there are lots of wonderful singles events on at this time of the year. Or why not throw your own Halloween party where all the guests must bring a single friend along if they want to come.
No matter what you decide to do, showing you have a great imagination is the secret to making it work. It’s not about scaring them so they run away but giving them a gentle thrill that will make your date memorable.
