6 Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas They’ll Absolutely Love
By James Preece
Christmas is just the corner and it’s a celebration of life, friends and family. If you are lucky enough to be in a relationship – especially a new one – then you are soon going to start thinking about what present you will get them.
Choosing the perfect present can be fun but scary. If you haven’t been seeing each other very long then it can be especially daunting. You might worry about getting it wrong or having to spend money you can’t afford. I want to let you know that you don’t have to try and impress them with your wallet, but instead with your imagination.
Here is my dating advice to ensure you get them an affordable present they will remember - for the right reasons.
1. Lookout for Clues
The most important thing you need to do is to really pay attention. If you listen carefully enough they will probably be dropping you hints about what they want. Even if they don’t, you should be able to get a good idea of the sorts of things they are interested in and what they enjoy doing. They might even post something in social media if you are lucky.
2. Create a Memorable Experience
Recent studies have shown that having exciting experiences makes us happier than collecting material things. Memories last much longer and make up who you are as a person. You are also naturally going to feel more connected to someone if you have a shared experience. So why not book up something you can do together. Perhaps a day out somewhere or trying a class to learn a new skill.
3. Keep it Simple
If you have only met them a few times, then you aren’t really “dating" yet. You don’t want to go overboard or seem too eager. If you spend too much then it’s only going to embarrass them and seem a bit much. So it’s better to make a smaller gesture and keep things simple. Flowers, chocolate and traditional smaller presents are usually on offer in the shops at this time of year.
4. Check out the Deal Sites
If you don’t have a big budget, you can find amazing deals and offers on sites like Groupon. You’ll be able to buy all sorts of activities, experiences and gifts at a fraction of the price. If you have a little browse you will almost certainly come up with some original ideas.
5. Make it Personal
Some of the best presents are those that come from the heart. If you have enough, you could make a photo book full of memories together. Or if you are able, why not knit them a scarf or design a personalised piece of jewellery for them. These are all cheaper options that will take time rather than a lot of money.
6. Look to the Future
If you want something really special, choose something that will make them think of your relationship being a long term thing. You can do this but booking something for a few months’ time, or giving them a plant they can watch grow.
Remember, it really is true that it’s the thought that counts and if you make the effort they will appreciate whatever gift you get them.
If you don’t yet have a date, don’t worry. You can create some wonderful opportunities by signing up to one of the online dating sites we recommend HERE.
