Comparing EliteSingles and match.com — Which Dating Site is the Best?
By James Preece
Match.com is arguably the best known online dating site in the UK. However, there’ a new contender on the block that’s fast making ground – EliteSingles. We’ve tested out both the sites to see which the ultimate winner is. Let the battle commence!
1. User Base
Both match.com and EliteSingles have huge databases, with more members than many of the other leading dating sites. Match.com has around 3 million members in the UK. EliteSingles has just over 500,000 members. They also claim to have over 65000 singles signing up across the world each day, so the database is growing at a fair rate. However, match.com wins this round since they currently have many more members. Winner: match.com
The majority of EliteSingles members are aged over 30 and are looking for a serious relationship. They aim for a well-educated member, with 87% being university educated. Match.com has a wider variety of members who are looking for all kinds of dating, so it’s less targeted and accessible to all. While the average user is in their 30s, there are many mature members and plenty of younger ones, too. EliteSingles has a higher quality database and is our winner in this category. Winner: EliteSingles
Both dating sites are chock full of useful features that will make your search easier right from the start. EliteSingles offers an individual personality test to make sure your matches are highly targeted. Match.com helps you write a fun, short profile and it’s very easy to generate matches and filter them accordingly. They also have a new Shuffle feature which turns finding matches into a simple game. EliteSingles periodically remove inactive users so members won’t waste time contacting people who aren’t serious about meeting up. Match.com also offer regular singles events all over the UK. The run everything from speed dating to cookery classes. With the events and extra features, match.com wins. Winner: match.com
4. Mobile Compatibility
Both EliteSingles and match.com have fully functional mobile apps which are available to download from either the Apple Store or GooglePlay for those with Android phones. This means you can use the apps on any tablet, too. With each of the apps you can sign up, browse members and explore the mobile optimised sites. You can also upload photos quickly and easily using images you’ve already stored on your smartphone. Both Apps are very similar in comparison. Winner: Draw
Match.com and EliteSingles will both allow you create profile and browse the site for suitable matches. However, you will need to upgrade if you wish to contact anyone or read your messages. Match.com charges £29.99 for one month, £59.97 for 3 months or a special offer price of £59.94 for six months. So it makes sense to choose the 6 months package. EliteSingles are a little more expensive as they aim at a more affluent user. Regular fees are a whopping £79.99 for one month, £134.85 for three months or £209.70 for six months. The winner is match.com as it works out much better value. Winner: match.com
EliteSingles and match.com allow to chat and message other members once you have paid your membership fee. With EliteSingles, you can send Smiles and on match.com you can wink – both of which are a speedy way to show you like someone. Chatting is easy using their built in, instant messenger which provides a safe way to communicate before taking things off site. Of the two, EliteSingles has a more direct, stylish interface. Winner: EliteSingles
7. Bottom Line
Both sites offer great opportunities for singles to meet each other in a safe, easy way. While EliteSingles are growing bigger and better, match.com is still the first choice for now. It’s a win for match.com >>
